High-speed logging device samples up to 80 measurements/sec

CAS DATALOGGERS partnered with DELPHIN TECHNOLOGY to introduce the LogMessage 5000 Data Logger, a cost-effective device for various data-acquisition projects. The LM5000 is capable of data acquisition from 16 differential analog inputs with galvanic isolation of up to 650 VDC — which is important for acquiring measurements from voltage-carrying components.

The new system is part of the upgraded LogMessage 1000-9000 series. Offering secure data acquisition via universal inputs with stand alone capability, this new series is well-suited for a range of industrial applications including PC-independent measurement and testing, product testing, laboratory, R&D, temperature data acquisition, fault diagnostics at machines/plants, GPS data logging/remote monitoring, and more.

The LM5000 is a high-speed data logger with sampling rates of up to 80 measurements per second and an intuitive function, making it easy for users to configure inputs, save data, and display data as trends. Each of the LogMessage 5000’s analog inputs can be separately configured, and any type of thermocouple can be used for temperature measurement. The LogMessage 5000 is equipped with linearization curves for all thermocouple types and has pre-installed reference points so that any thermocouple can then be connected and used immediately, giving users a quick start to their projects.

Improvements to the LogMessage series include four serial interfaces, up to 16 GB of local memory, an Ethernet interface, and extensive functionality. LogMessage devices are precision instruments that feature universal sensor connection: they can be switched via software to function with any type of sensor. Pt100 and Pt1000 sensors can be fed directly from the LogMessage device via a 4-wire connection. Analog inputs can be used to also measure mA or mV signals. Scaling is performed immediately according to the required measurement unit.

Also, data can be transferred online to a PC via the LogMessage 5000 LAN interface. The LAN interface is galvanically isolated also, as are the power supply and all other interfaces — by up to 1,000 VDC. LogMessage devices are fully protected against earth loops enabling measurements from non-isolated sources. All analog inputs can function as differential inputs.

The LogMessage 5000 is equipped with a standard data storage capacity of up to 250 million measurement records (expandable to 1 billion), offering improved data security and reliability over PC-based systems. Each measurement record is recorded with a time and date stamp. Then, the data is evaluated using the professional ProfiSignal Go software included with the LogMessage 5000. This PC software is used for online/offline monitoring and measurement data analysis of any type of measurement data. Just three steps are required to display measurement data as trends, to analyze the data, and to evaluate offline data.

ProfiSignal Go has a choice of diagrams that can be run simultaneously. The integrated DataService software provides data storage and archiving functions. In combination with ProfiSignal Go, the DataService also provides many alarm management and monitoring functions. The DataService enables ProfiSignal to function efficiently and powerfully as well as to process large data volumes via multiple and diverse interfaces. Data can be exported as a CSV-file for convenient accessibility.
