GENERAL TOOLS & INSTRUMENTS detailed the expanded functions and capabilities for its DCS1800 and DCS1600 wireless recording video borescope systems. More than 15 probe options are available now for each system—including different probe types, diameters, and lengths and viewing angles.
The DCS1800 and DCS1600 save time and money by allowing quick, precise visual inspection of inaccessible or hazardous areas of machinery, equipment, and systems without the need for disassembly or teardown. Proper inspections with these systems can increase safety, identify potential problems before they become critical, cut equipment downtime, and reduce labor. The numerous options make the systems well suited for numerous applications, the developer stated, including examining interior surfaces of cast or machined parts for burrs, cavities, or other imperfections.
The devices also are useful for inspecting welds in tubing, piping, tanks, and other equipment; detecting leaks, cracks, corrosion, blockages and deposit buildup in ducts and piping; reading inaccessible or hidden part or serial numbers; inspecting walls, wiring, and piping; and performing maintenance inspections of pumps, valves, compressors, process equipment, heating and cooling equipment, gearboxes, fabricating machines, and other industrial equipment
The DCS1800 and DCS1600 are supplied standard with a slim 5.5 mm (0.22 in.) diameter, 1 m (3.28 ft.) long flexible-obedient, front-view camera probe that is water-, oil-, and dust-proof to IP67 standards. This standard probe features a depth of field of 10 to 300 mm (0.4 to 12 in.) and four adjustable super-strength white LEDs that yield superior image resolution. It provides a horizontal field angle of 46°, vertical field angle of 34°, and diagonal field angle of 56°.
Both systems come with three interchangeable mirrored viewing tips that provide extra-wide view angles of 70°, 90°, and 110°. Probe options abound for both systems in lengths from 1 m (3.28 ft.) to 22 m (72 ft.) and include soft metal and VGA resolution articulating probes, ultra-slim probes (3.9 mm/0.15 in.) and switchable front/side view probes.
The DCS1800 and DCS1600 each feature a 3.5 in. (88.9-mm) color monitor for real-time viewing and a removable 2GB SD card for recording video and still images. Additionally, the DCS1800 has a wireless range of up to 10 m (33 ft.) and can record audio annotations via an integrated microphone.
