Cellular processing system integrates handling and treatment
Can-Eng Furnaces International Ltd. reports it commissioned a new heat-treating system for an unnamed automaker in the Southeastern U.S. Niagara Falls, NY-based Can-Eng states that the high-volume T-5 Basketless Heat Treatment System (BHTS) will reduce energy consumption significantly for the engine manufacturing operation, compared with conventional roller hearth or batch heat treatment systems. The BHTS also limits the floor-space required for high-volume heat-treating versus the alternative technologies. As described by Can-Eng, BHTS is an integrated system that coordinates transfer conveyors, robotic automation, an aging furnace, post-process cooling, and part identification. The final element of the system is a process control package that Can-Eng describes as "user friendly."
