Four Intermet Plants Honored with Customer Awards

Plants in Virginia, Michigan, Missouri, Germany earn recognition for quality, performance

Four Intermet Corp. casting operations have earned customers’ quality awards, the company announced.

For the fifth time in nine years, Intermet's Archer Creek foundry in Lynchburg, VA, earned Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America Inc.’s Certificate of Achievement award. Archer Creek Foundry met TMMNA’s quality and delivery standards for an entire year. The award was presented at the 2005 TMMNA Annual Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony. Intermet's Stevensville, MI, PCPC plant received an award from Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems' Saginaw Operations. The plant uses Intermet’s trademarked Pressure-Counter-Pressure Casting (PCPC) process to produce aluminum steering knuckles for Delphi. It was presented with Delphi’s 2005 "Best Supplier" award, for demonstrating excellence and exceeding Delphi's expectations.

Intermet's Monroe City, MO, aluminum plant earned the Hitachi Automotive Supplier Performance Award for achievements in quality, delivery performance, cost management, and dedicated support during 2004. Hitachi issued 10 awards for supplier performance and the Monroe City plant was the only diecaster to receive this honor. Monroe City also earned with this award in 2001 and 2002.

Federal-Mogul Corp. has awarded Intermet's Neunkirchen Foundry in Neunkirchen, Germany, for "Zero Defect" performance and "Delivery Excellence." The awards are a part of Federal-Mogul's TVA program, which assesses suppliers in delivery, quality, innovation, and a proactive approach to supply-chain cost reductions. Neunkirchen supplies Federal-Mogul with ductile-iron brake components.

Intermet CEO Gary F. Ruff stated: "These awards hold special significance for us since they recognize Intermet as a worldwide leader in product quality and delivery. Based in Troy, MI, Intermet is a producer of various cast-metal components and recently reorganized as a private company via Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
