Archer Creek books second consecutive audit with 100% conformance

December 5, 2006 — Intermet Corp.'s Archer Creek Foundry in Lynchburg, VA, and Columbus (GA) Foundry have completed third-party surveillance audits recently, and have achieved 100% compliance with the ISO/TS 16949 Technical Specification, the company announced. Intermet, a manufacturer of cast-metal components for automotive and commercial vehicle producers and other industrial markets, states that continued registration to the ISO/TS standard is a well respected and universally accepted indicator of its products' quality.

For the Archer Creek foundry, this was the second consecutive audit for which it has achieved 100% conformance.

According to Intermet, both plants attribute their success to their use of Layered Process Audits involving all levels of management, as well as to a commitment to Intermet's Quality System.

Steve Lake, president of Intermet's Domestic Ferrous Group stated: "We are pleased and proud with the audit results at both of these locations. Our decision to seek the more rigorous Technical Standard recognizes and validates the detailed processes and internal disciplines that we have strived to develop over many years".
