Vertical Column Lift Table for Precise Positioning

AIR TECHNICAL INDUSTRIES has developed a new compact lift table operated by a screw actuator, for smooth, precise lifting action. This design provides highly accurate and repeatable vertical positioning, and is sturdy and suitable for heavy-duty industrial use. Still, its precision makes it useful for applications like positioning of laboratory or medical instruments.

The vertical column lift table has no risk of oil leaks or spills, so it is suitable for data centers, food processing plants, cleanrooms, and pharmaceutical labs.

The lift consists of a vertical column mast that supports linear bearings for load support and contains the screw actuator, similar to a stacker design. The platform is cantilevered off the vertical mast so it is accessible from the other three sides. The motor and controls are hidden in a slim cabinet behind the mast so the entire lift system is completely self-contained in a compact, sleek footprint.

The vertical column lift table is available in several platform sizes and capacities, with standard models offered from 50 pounds up to 2,500 pounds, 12x12-in. up to 48x48-in. platform sizes and vertical lifts starting as low as one-quarter inch from floor level rising to 36 in. high.

Air Technical Industries offers flexible modification and customization services providing for any capacity, size, or lift travel required. It is offered as a stationary, floor-mounted lift system, but it can be upgraded with a wheel package turning it into a screw-operated mobile stacker.

The typical power source is 120 VAC single-phase, with heavier models available 230/460VAC three-phase power, or battery-powered on mobile units. There also is an option for pneumatic compressed air-powered systems that eliminates the electrical service requirement, making the system ideal for hazardous area applications.

A control pendant is included for up-down action, with available foot pedal, free-standing pedestal, or wireless radio control options. The lift controls can be automated with a PLC or integrated into other systems, and the lift can be equipped with encoder, stepper motor, or servo motor for complete and accurate positional feedback.

The elimination of hydraulics usually used for lift systems makes the lift design ideal for sensitive applications. Standard models are offered in mild carbon steel, but can be designed in stainless steel for cleanroom or washdown applications. It can also be designed in aluminum for weight reduction where required. Despite the advanced mechanical systems utilized for the vertical column lift table, electro-mechanical models up to 500 pounds are relatively economical, especially compared to a custom-designed solution.

The new vertical column lift table allows a broader range of lift parameters and flexible power, control, and material options. It also maximizes floor space with the most compact footprint available for comparable specifications of traditional lifts, and it improves workplace safety and efficiency over alternative lift solutions.
