Manual Video Measurement, Inspection

The automaker’s diesel engine plant adopts a high-accuracy Keyence CCD automated scanning system, with laser-displacement sensors completing about 2,500 measurements instantaneously.
At Trémery in northeastern France, a plant owned and operated by automaker Groupe PSA, produces 6,500 four-cylinder diesel engines every day. It operates with a high degree of process automation: Every cylinder on every engine receives a piston, with a piston ring installed by a robot. Each piston ring is split, allowing its ends to be spread apart so that it may be slid into a groove specially machined on engine pistons. And every ring, and every placement, is inspected for accuracy.
