KUKA Robotics Corp. has signed Automation Engineering Corp. (AEC) as its newest system partner. AEC, Greenville, SC, supplies automated machinery and control systems, and will integrate KUKA industrial robots into their new family of foundry automation cells. These customized cells are designed for casting, grinding, polishing, and material handling in foundries.
“The worldwide casting market is one of KUKA's highest growth areas. Quality partners like AEC are key to our success,” said Joe Campbell, director of strategic alliances for KUKA Robotics Corp. “We believe the AEC foundry automation solutions will leverage KUKA robots to deliver unique and valuable solutions to foundries around the world.”
KUKA is a global manufacturer of industrial robots, including a series specially designed for foundries and forging operations. Its five- and six-axis robots range from 3- to 570-kg payloads, and 635- to 3700-mm reach, controlled from a common PC-based controller platform. KUKA’s North American operations are centered in Clinton Township, MI.
"We have provided engineering solutions to the casting and foundry industry for many years. We are excited about the capability and features that KUKA offers to our next generation of customized solutions,” states AEC president Gary Foster. “Feedback from customers has been extremely positive and we look forward to a long and successful partnership with KUKA Robotics.”
