Korean Group Plans $110M US Specialty Alloy Project

July 11, 2024
Specialty steelmaker SeAH is building a “high-performance metal manufacturing plant” in central Texas.

A South Korean industrial group announced plans for $110-million high-performance metal manufacturing plant in Temple, TX, between Austin and Dallas. SeAH Group specializes in steelmaking and processing and is the largest specialty steel producer in South Korea.

Local reports describe the project as a “foundry”, but specific details of the operation and its start-up schedule were not announced.

According to Texas Governor Greg Abbot, the new operation will establish about 100 jobs. “SeAH Group’s $110 million investment in Temple is a testament to the unique and unmatched business opportunities the Lone Star State has to offer businesses,” the governor stated. “I look forward to welcoming SeAH Group’s new manufacturing facility to Texas and continuing to work with them to bring even more investments and jobs to our state.”

SeAH Steel in Houston is a processor and fabricator of OCTG products in different grades, and semi-premium connections for oil-and-gas drilling, transport, and processing. It is an API-licensed producer of casing and tubing products, offering ERW welding, inspection, heat-treating, and threading processes.

SeAH is collecting $910,000 from the Texas Enterprise Fund and the Temple facility will specialize in superalloy manufacturing.
