North Vernon Industries subsidiary produces gray iron off-road equipment parts
Local reports indicate Alabama’s Cullman Casting Corp. will be reopening before year’s end. The gray iron foundry was established in Cullman, AL, in 2004 by North Vernon Industry Corp., a Toyota Industries Corp. subsidiary that produces counterbalance products for material handling and off-road vehicles. The $60-million project started operating in 2006, but was idled in 2008 due to lack of demand the heavy components it produces. Cullman Casting has been advertising available positions in local media, including openings for molders, melting operators, machinists, maintenance technicians, and supervisors.
