Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry Buys Wabash Castings

April 5, 2021
The private transaction adds more aluminum green-sand casting capability, in what the CEO said “will accelerate our growth in the electric vehicle and consumer goods markets.”

Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry reported it purchased the assets of Wabash Castings Inc., Wabash, IN, in a private transaction. The green-sand foundry is seen as “a perfect complement to our existing breadth of production lines.” According to a statement by Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry CEO Sachin Shivaram.

“This acquisition will accelerate our growth in the electric vehicle and consumer goods markets, among other exciting opportunities," he added.

The Wabash Castings brand will be maintained.

Wabash Castings produces complex-cored parts like pumps, manifolds, and turbo chargers, among others, for automotive manufacturers (including EVs), heavy-duty truck builders, off-highway and construction equipment producers, and other general manufacturing operations.

Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry, Manitowoc, WI, uses green-sand, air set, and permanent mold casting and low-pressure molding to pour a range of aluminum and copper-based alloys for automotive, agriculture and construction, commercial vehicles, defense, medical, and railroad manufacturing, among others. It’s holdings also include Manitowoc Pattern & Machining, MP&M a precision machining and foundry tooling producer with engineering capabilities for prototyping through assembly, NDT, and other services.
