Scrap Processor Buys Iron Foundry

July 1, 2025
The onetime Ward Manufacturing plant in north central Pennsylvania will be integrated into Rytoria, which converts ferrous and nonferrous metals into ingots for automotive and other manufacturing buyers.

A scrap processor and secondary metal producer purchased an iron foundry in north central Pennsylvania, and stated it plans to integrate the metalcasting operation to its current portfolio. Neither Rytoriacap nor the seller, ASC Engineered Solutions, reported the value of the transaction.

ASC purchased the onetime Ward Manufacturing foundry in Blossburg, PA, in February 2024, and through a lease-back arrangement it will operate the plant through December as it transitions its production of flow-control products to other locations in the state.

Ward Manufacturing casts malleable and gray iron parts for sprinkler systems, drainage systems, and other prodicts, including fittings, connectors, unions, plugs and bushings, etc.

Rytoria plans a “phased integration” for the foundry, including workforce engagement and infrastructure assessment. It processes nonferrous and ferrous metals, including aluminum, copper, and brass, and through its subsidiary Fagor Regen Aluminum it manufactures aluminum ingots for automotive and general manufacturing customers.

“Blossburg is a wonderful community with great talent, and we are excited to launch the next chapter of Rytoria’s growth here,” stated Rytoria CEO Lorne Kalisky.

“This facility provides a strong foundation for our expansion and long-term success,” Kalisky added. “We look forward to engaging with local leaders and learning more about the community’s workforce as we implement a phased expansion strategy aligned with Rytoria’s broader U.S. growth objectives.”
