| Two Foundries Gain Quality Certifications US Aluminum Castings reports it completed certification for the ISO TS-16949 standard, a global standard that certifies continuous improvement programs for defect prevention and supply-chain waste elimination. The Bradken-Amite steel foundry in Amite, LA, achieved ABS certification to produce steel castings for marine applications. Read more |
| Alcoa Howmet Cuts Employment at Investment Casting Plant Alcoa Howmet has laid off over 20% of the workforce at its Hampton, VA, investment casting plant, citing weak demand for industrial gas turbines. Two-hundred and fifty positions were eliminated earlier this month; the plant reportedly had a workforce of 1,060 prior to the layoffs. Read more |
