Columbus Castings Named Excellent Supplier for Third Straight Year

June 8, 2010
Steel foundry recognized by railcar supplier for cost, quality, delivery, service, and financial performance

The TTX Co.’s Supplier Evaluation Committee (SECO) named Ohio’s Columbus Castings as one of its “TTX Excellent Supplier” designees for 2009. It’s the third consecutive year that Columbus Castings has achieved TTX Excellent Supplier status for its cost, quality, delivery, service, and financial performance.

The “TTX Excellent Supplier” designation is reserved for suppliers that are awarded a SECO rating of “A” in all five categories. The rating represents a consensus among representatives from TTX Fleet Management, Equipment, and Finance departments. The program aims to improve the communication of expectations and performance between TTX and its suppliers.

TTX supplies railcars and related freight car management services. It operates a fleet of more than 200,000 flatcars, boxcars and gondolas across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The company is owned by several leading railroads.

Columbus Castings, formerly Buckeye Steel, calls itself America’s largest steel foundry. It manufactures complex steel castings weighing from 100 to 70,000 pounds for rail, mass transit, mining equipment, construction equipment, and other industrial markets.

“We are pleased that we continue to receive recognition for our product quality and service from TTX Company,” states Columbus Castings president Tom Santacroce. “Our ability to provide our customers with competitive cost, outstanding quality, while maintaining our financial stability during a sustained economic downturn is a testament to the determination and commitment of our 450 Central Ohio employees.”
