November 1, 2006 -- Magnesium diecaster Lunt Manufacturing Co. Inc.'s new Chinese joint venture is set to begin production and sales, having gained “official occupancy” from the Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Center in Suzhou. The Schaumburg, IL-based company established the venture with Japan's Toyota Tsusho Corp. in late 2004.
Lunt is the majority owner of LTM (Suzhou) Co. Ltd., which is producing diecastings for Chinese manufacturers serving construction, power tools, lawn/garden equipment, recreation, and automotive industries. Lunt is a full-service magnesium diecaster that offers product design and engineering, prototyping, tool design and construction, machining, painting, assembly, and packaging.
It states that it has invested the venture with its magnesium diecasting expertise, engineering, and market connections, while Toyota-Tsusho offers its logistics capabilities and an understanding of China's regulatory landscape.
LTM is situated in a 3,000-m2 (32,000-ft2) plant that has diecasting, machining, and finishing capabilities, and Lunt indicates the venture will offer painting and over-molding services, too.
