Celina Aluminum Precision Technology, Celina, OH, said earlier this month it will be adding 48,000 ft2 of manufacturing space in preparation for a new product line, according to The Lima News. The $18-million project will result in a new process line that will employ an additional 36 people, CAPT senior manager Dennis Lee told the paper.
CAPT delivers its diecastings exclusively to Honda of America. The new product has not been disclosed, but will be the output of a high-pressure diecasting technology. Currently, CAPT products are gravity, tilt, and low-pressure diecastings.
"This makes us one of the few automotive suppliers in the nation to be able to do all four types of die casting," Lee told The News.
The groundbreaking will come before the end of this year, and construction will be complete before summer of 2004. Equipment will be completely installed by May 2005 and production will begin in June 2005.
CAPT opened in 1996 and this will be its third expansion. A new R&D center opened there earlier this year. At present, the plant occupies 160,000 ft2.
