May 29, 2007 — Todd A. Heavin, formerly president of Intermet Corp.'s Die Cast Products Group, is the new chief operating officer of FormTech L.L.C. He will have oversight responsibility for FormTech's six forging plants in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.
FormTech, Royal Oak, MI, manufactures forged steel components for automotive, light-vehicle, heavy-truck, and industrial markets. It consists of operations spun-off from Metaldyne Corp. in early 2006.

Prior to his position with Intermet, Heavin was the manufacturing manager of Delphi Automotive Systems’ Energy and Chassis division plant in Grand Rapids, MI. Before then, he was the general manager of Door Panel and Instrument Panel Product Center at United Technologies Automotive. He had been the plant manager for UTA's Holland and Byron Center, MI, plants.
Before joining UTA, Heavin was plant manager of Inverness Casting Group’s Bangor, MI, plant, and a quality engineer for Dynac Corp. in St. Joseph, MI.
Heavin is a graduate of Michigan State University with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting and financial administration.
