The North American Die Casting Association has released its 2004 Annual Wage & Fringe Benefits Survey Report, which includes data showing diecasting industry wages are 16% greater than those in general service-related jobs.
NADCA’s report is based on data from 50 diecasting companies, and includes data on wage rates, insurance, fringe benefits, and job descriptions for direct labor employees.
The study includes pay rates and benefit data for 13 job categories in the diecasting industry. Peak wages for skilled positions approach $60,000 annually, including benefits. The group states that North American diecasters pay well thanks to their investments in advanced technology which have improved worker productivity.
"Steady growth is seen in diecasting because of the quality people being employed by these progressive companies," says NADCA president Daniel L. Twarog. "These are good jobs and turnover is usually minimal. Plus, there are significant opportunities for advancement since continuing education and training programs are encouraged by plant management."
