Oct. 7, 2022
Adding the U.S.-based manufacturer of sand mixing, dosing, handling, reclamation equipment “perfectly complements our suite of sustainable foundry technologies,” according to the group’s CEO.

Norican Group has acquired Simpson Technologies Corp., Aurora, IL, adding technology for sand mixing, dosing, handling, reclamation, and analysis to the portfolio of metalcasting businesses it has assembled since 2009. The value of the private transaction were not announced.

Simpson Technologies president and CEO Bruce W. Dienst will remain in that role and assume leadership of all Norican activity in North America, which is centered in LaGrange, GA. The existing Simpson organization will remain, and its processes will be integrated with Norican’s systems during the months ahead.

Headquartered in Denmark, Norican includes DISA, specializing in green-sand molding equipment; ItalPresseGauss, developers of high-pressure diecasting machinery; StrikoWestofen, manufacturers of light-metal melting, holding, and dosing furnaces; and Wheelabrator, suppliers of shot-blast surface treatment machinery.

The group also includes Monitizer, an equipment-neutral data-collection and analysis platform.

“We were particularly impressed with Simpson’s outstanding sand reclamation and energy-efficient continuous sand mixing equipment, which perfectly complements our suite of sustainable foundry technologies,” stated Anders Wilhjelm, CEO of Norican Group.

Simpson previously announced its machines would be integrated with the Monitizer IIoT platform, allowing users “to collect, visualize, and analyze data to reduce operational costs and make educated improvements to the process.”

“We are very excited and honored to join the Norican family whose values, strategic vision and technologies fully align with and complement ours,” Dienst stated. “In fact, we’ve already worked with and respected many of our new colleagues for decades. In North America, we will further integrate Simpson with our sister brands of DISA, Wheelabrator, and Monitizer to provide a complete solution that produces castings of the highest quality.”
