Foundry Group Buys Muncie Castings

Combining the Indiana aluminum foundry with its ferrous casting plant Dakota Foundry is meant to offer “complete, vertically integrated manufacturing solutions” to manufacturing customers.

Anderson Foundries - a holding company based in Webster, SD - acquired Indiana-based Muncie Castings LLC, adding it to its portfolio that includes Dakota Foundry and Spartan Pattern.  The terms of the takeover have not been announced.

The buyer, Anderson Foundries, is distinct from Anderson Global, the Michigan manufacturer of foundry tooling

Muncie Castings is an ISO:9001-certified aluminum foundry in Muncie, IN, that offers a range of design and prototyping services, and production capabilities, from coremaking through sand and permanent mold casting.  Its air-set / no-bake castings are supplied to agriculture, automotive, construction, defense, marine, and other industrial manufacturing markets.

Dakota Foundry, in Webster, SD, is a gray and ductile iron casting operation supplying parts up to 5,000 lbs. for manufacturers of agriculture and construction equipment and heavy machinery.

Spartan Pattern, in Lakeside, MT, specializes in casting engineering design, CAD/CAM design, and in producing foundry tooling.

Anderson Foundries reported that combining the two foundries’ capabilities will allow the business to deliver “complete, vertically integrated manufacturing solutions” to industries from agriculture and construction to industrial design and custom manufacturing, with both iron and aluminum casting expertise.”
