Ferrous foundry group Metal Technologies Inc. (MTI) has purchased Rochester Metal Products for an undisclosed price. The 250,000-sq.ft plant in Rochester, IN, is now the fifth metalcasting operation for the Auburn, IN-based organization, and rebranded as Metal Technologies Rochester, according to a statement.
“Rochester Metal Products has been built over generations by people who care deeply about this business, our customers, and our community,” stated John Haas, chairman. “In MTI, we found a family owned and operated organization that shares those values and understands the foundry business. We believe joining MTI gives Rochester the resources, capabilities and long-term commitment needed to build on what our employees have created and continue growing for years to come.”
The enlarged MTI group also includes a foundry and technical center in Auburn; and foundries in Three Rivers and Ravenna, MI, and San Luis Potosí, Mexico. It has specialty machining operations in Hillsdale, MI, and San Luis Potosí.
Metal Technologies Rochester has horizontal and vertical molding, and induction melting, and it pours gray and ductile iron castings for customers in various industrial markets. The expanded MTI organization offers approximately 410,000 tons/year of gray, ductile, and austempered ductile iron casting capacity, with 15 Disamatic vertical molding lines and four horizontal molding lines. It also offers engineering and product development.
The group’s extended services include over 200 CNC machining centers, finishing, coating, heat treating, subcomponents and assembly services.
With the addition of Rochester Metal, MTI’s total employment is now more than 2,100, it states.
