Charlotte Pipe Confirms De Pere Foundry Purchase

The employee-owned foundry is the third acquisition in four years for the ferrous casting group, and a source there confirms no changes are planned for the Wisconsin operation.

Charlotte Pipe & Foundry has purchased employee-owned De Pere Foundry Inc. in De Pere, WI, as reported locally there and confirmed by a company spokesman. “We have acquired De Pere Foundry but we did not issue a press release or public announcement. We have no plans for any changes to their operations or the workforce,” Charlotte Pipe v.p. - corporate communications Bradford D. Muller explained.

According to its LinkedIn profile, De Pere Foundry has about 50 employees. No value has been revealed for the acquisition.

The Charlotte, NC- based company recently marked its 125th anniversary. It’s the third notable expansion by acquisition for the business in the past four years, following Neenah Enterprises in 2022 and Bingham & Taylor in 2025.

In each case the additions were ascribed to Charlotte Pipe’s growth as supplier of infrastructure products, specifically cast iron pipes. The group also manufacturers plastic pipe and fittings, for residential and commercial plumbing markets.

In March the organization was reorganized under the Charlotte Pipe brand, with Neenah Foundry becoming a product line rather than a wholly owned subsidiary. The Bingham & Taylor foundry in Culpepper, VA, has been marked for closure.

De Pere Foundry is a gray and ductile iron casting operation pouring castings up to 50,000 lbs. It also offers prototyping and operates a nonferrous foundry for castings up to 1,000 lbs. Additional capabilities there include machining, heat treatment, painting, NDT, and other value-added services through local partners.

De Pere Foundry’s end markets represent some consistency with the Charlotte Pipe focus - water treatment and wastewater, and construction - but it also serves some customers that manufacture mining and industrial machinery, material handling equipment, and machine tools.
